This is the All-Montgomery Media Baseball Team. albeit the unofficial team, as Montgomery Media has no affiliation with the picks, it just was the criteria to being selected. Players had to play on a team in our coverage area.

I have chosen players from multiple leagues and multiple classifications. While I know some talented players may have been left off, this is solely based on opinions from what I have witnessed and read about over the past three months.

Dan Hoy

Player of the Year: Shortstop - Dan Hoy (Germantown Academy) - Comparisons can be made to the players prior to Dan Hoy, such as former GA star Sean Coyle and current Red Sox Dustin Pedroia, but Hoy has his own style. The shortstop does have more power than the biggest high school seniors. Hoy can hit the ball over the fence, swipe bases with ease and play anywhere on the diamond. With his batting avergae seemingly unrealistic for XBox during his senior season, this Princeton commit wowed every time he took the field for the Patriots.

Pitcher - Kyle Walder (Upper Moreland)
Pitcher - Richie Rosenbaum (Archbishop Wood)
Pitcher - Reed Shuttle (North Penn) - There is one sure thing the Knights knew they had in first year coach Kevin Manero and that was a pitcher's best friend. Behind Manero and staff Shuttle became the ace as the season progressed. As the work load increased and he was handed the ball for the big games, Shuttle opened up eyes and most likely earned himself a pretty nice spot to play ball in college.
Pitcher - Luke Reilly (Germantown Academy)
Pitcher - Jon Motts (Lansdale Catholic)
Pitcher - Jesse Kohler (Upper Dublin)

Bobby Slagle

Catcher - Bobby Slagle (Plymouth-Whitemarsh)
Catcher - Eddie Posavec (North Penn) -It seems as though the Knights always have a power hitting catcher waiting in the wings. And he usually played first base in the season prior. Posavec is the next in a long line of talented backstops from Lansdale who have made the transition from young  first basemen, to the battery and leader of a strong team. Posavec was one of the most dangerous hitters in the entire area this season.

First Basemen - Joe Casselberry (Methacton)
First Basemen - Chris Melillo (LaSalle)
First Basemen - Jordan Pocross (Lower Moreland)

Second Basemen - Chris Hens (Hatboro-Horsham) - While the special season for the Hatters has had many heroes, Hens seems to hit the most timely knocks. His power in the line-up (six home runs) and his flexibility in the field (playing infield or outfield) makes him a valuable piece of the Hatters' puzzle.
Second Basemen - Colin Pyne (LaSalle)

Rafael Fernandez

Shortstop - Dan Carr (Christopher Dock)
Shortstop - Rafael Fernandez (Cheltenham)
Shortstop - Sean Valenza - The slick fielding Valenza has come a long way as a four year starter for the Golden Bears. He has gone from a role player on good teams to a cornerstone on great teams, including a district championship in his junior year. Valenza stepped into the three-hole in the order for his senior season and continued to drive in runs.

Outfielder - Cory Capaldi (Souderton)
Outfielder - Greg McDonough (Wissahickon)
Outfielder - Max Vido (Springfield) - The left fielder is the heart and soul of the Spartans. He generates so much optimsim and confidence throughout the dugout with his hard nose play. His timely offense and defense led the Class AA bunch to second straight district championship and state playoff appearance.
Outfielder - Casey Saverio (Hatboro-Horsham)
