To help pass the time between now and the start of the 2011 Major League Baseball season I am going to be examining a different team every day. Starting with the Pirates, working toward the Phillies. I will give you my projected starters, breakout and bust players, biggest spring training question and top prospect.
PROJECTED LINEUP
CF Nyjer Morgan
SS Ian Desmond
3B Ryan Zimmerman
1B Adam LaRoche
RF Jayson Werth
LF Rick Ankiel
2B Danny Espinosa
C Ivan Rodriguez
P Livan Hernandez
PROJECTED ROTATION
Livan Hernandez
Jordan Zimmermann
Tom Gorzelanny
John Lannan
Jason Marquis
PROJECTED BULLPEN
Closer - Drew Storen
Set-up - Tyler Clippard
Top Prospect - Bryce Harper (OF)
Breakout
Wilson Ramos - I can't even call Pudge Rodriguez a bust because he is what he is. A washed up hall-of-famer who can longer hit or throw at the level he once could. Pudge may start opening day, but by midseason Ramos, the Twins former top prospect, will be calling pitches in the capitol.
Bust
Jayson Werth - Honestly, what does Werth have to do to live up to 126 million dollars? He might have to hit 40 homers to be worth that mega-deal. I've said it for years and once Werth was taken away from the soft and cozy five-hole in Philadelphia he would be exploited. Congrats on the big signing Nats. You just received a game that will be well under what he average over the last three years in every hitting category.
Biggest Spring Training Question
New number one to the rescue - Last year it was Stephen Strasburg and this year it is Bryce Harper. Every move he makes in spring will be watched like a hope because the Nats are dying for some encouraging news, especially with Strasburg coming back from Tommy John. Harper, 19, will most likely not make the bigs this season, maybe for at a at-bat in September as a 'dip your toe in the water move, but DC will continue to monitor its future and that means Harper and Strasburg.

PROJECTED FINISH: 5th in the National League East
