GAME OF THE WEEK: Perkiomen Valley 27, Lansdale Catholic 26 (3 OTs) : In a battle of teams looking to rebound from a sub-par 2010 the former PAC-10 rivals refused to start this fall with a loss. A week one win can increase optimism moving forward.
An incomplete pass from eight yard line on a two-point conversion attempt for the win ended the non-league game.
The Crusaders defense was pretty strong. The only allowed 110 total yards off offense to their 244. Next week they will have their work cut out for them win an angry North Penn team.

LaSalle 44, North Penn 27:  In many people's eyes this repeat of last year's AAAA Eastern Final was the game to get a ticket to in week one. While LaSalle stole the show a few players put their name on the list of athletes to watch throughout the season. And in week one, nothing really is on the line in this game beside bragging rights, so at least we got to see some players emerge.
North Penn's Kyle Mayfield carried the Knights to a halftime lead before the Explorers found a combination that worked. In his first game as the feature back for the Knights Mayfield rand for 207 on 22 carries with a touchdown.
Colin Buckley stood out for the Explorers as he grabbed nine balls for 167 yards and four scores. The quartet of touchdowns, thrown by Matt Magarity, came in the second half.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Keith Young (Bishop McDevitt) Bishop McDevitt 40, Lower Moreland 0 - Maybe it was against a inexperienced Lower Moreland defense, but the Royal Lancers' senior tailback was unstoppable on Friday morning. The pressure of replacing an all-time great at McDevitt in Gary Postell was no big deal. Young brushed off the pressure to the tune of 196 yards and four touchdowns.
