To help pass the time between now and the start of the 2012 Major League Baseball season I am going to be examining a different team every day. Starting with the Astros, working toward the Phillies. I will give you my projected starters, breakout and bust players, each team's X-Factor and top prospect.

PROJECTED LINEUP

CF Angel Pagan
LF Melky Cabrera
3B Pablo Sandoval
C Buster Posey
1B Aubrey Huff
RF Brandon Belt
2B Mike Fontenot
SS Brandon Crawford
P Tim Lincecum

PROJECTED ROTATION
Tim Lincecum
Matt Cain
Madison Bumgarner
Ryan Vogelsong
Barry Zito

PROJECTED BULLPEN
Closer - Brian Wilson
Set-up - Sergio Romo

Top Prospect -Gary Brown (OF)

Breakout
Brandon Belt - I believe Belt just needs steady playing time at A T & T Park to stay and stick with the big club. They can not afford for a player to slump for an extended period of time, so if Aubrey Huff, Nate Schierholtz, Angel Pagan or Melky Cabrera struggle they should insert Belt into the middle of the lineup as soon as possible. Pablo Sandoval led the Giants in 2011 with 23 homers and with 550 at-bats Belt could easily become the Giants' leader in long balls.

Bust
Ryan Vogelsong - I want to root for the former Kutztown Bear, but it is hard for to believe Vogelsong will be able to duplicate his all-star season from a year ago. He got into a groove, then got a little lucky and took off. There is a reason he could never stick in the bigs and found himself in Japan a few years ago. I hope he cherished every second of 2011, becuase that mostly likely was the best year of his profession career.

X-FACTOR
Aubrey Huff - If the Giants are going to win they need offense. Buster Posey back certainly helps, but Huff holds a lot the Giants problems in his own swing. Luckily for the Baysiders Huff seems to produce every other year, but if that trend ends this year, so will their dream of another championship.

LAST YEAR'S RECORD: 86-79

With Buster back can the Giants get back to the playoff?

PROJECTED FINISH: 1st in the National League West
