To help pass the time between now and the start of the 2013 PIAA High School Football season I am going to be giving a look at two teams a day. I will give try to call out a few impact student athletes on offense, defense, as well as pinpoint one of the storylines as they open training camp.
Check this blog all season for scores, stats, and predictions, and players of the week...
Head Coach: Mike Santillo
Last year's record: 1-9 overall, 1-8 in PAC-10
Training Camp Question: Just when you think the future is all planned out, an unexpected wrench twists up the plans. A sensational junior year on the baseball diamond has led to shortstop James Bleming becoming a full-time shortstop and ditching the helmet and pads. But one thing coach Santillo does not do is panic. Junior Matt Mesaros should take over the quarterbacking duties smoothly and with all the weapons he has around him be able to chuck the ball all over the field like they have in the past few seasons. Though the air attack did not lead to wins last season, so therefore no matter who the quarterback is the PAC-10 program hopes to be a bit more balanced in 2013.
Offensive Standout: Sr. Nick Howarth (RB)
Defensive Standout: Sr. Tim Tadros (DB)
Breakout: Jr. Matt Mesaros (QB)
Head Coach: Rick Pennypacker
Last year's record: 11-1 overall, 9-0 in PAC-10
Training Camp Question: The Falcons have been a force in the league, district, and even the state for several years now and they plan on playing for a few championships this season again. But if ever there was a year they needed some players to breakthrough it is this year. The Falcons lost nearly 2,400 rushing yards to graduation behind the combo of Tory Hudgins and Mark Dukes. That is a lot of production to replace, but the Falcons are fearless, will stay calm, and the let prestige of the program carry them to another title shot.
Offensive Standout: Sr. Michael Fowler (WR)
Defensive Standout: Sr. Jeff Adams (LB)
Breakout: Sr. Marquis Barefield (RB)
Check back tomorrow for Pottstown and Souderton
