To help pass the time between now and the start of the 2013 PIAA High School Football season I am going to be giving a look at two teams a day. I will give try to call out a few impact student athletes on offense, defense, as well as pinpoint one of the storylines as they open training camp.

Check this blog all season for scores, stats, and predictions, and players of the week...

Head Coach: Bret Stover

Last year's record: 6-4 overall, 4-3 in Suburban One American Conference

Training Camp Question: This two-a-day is all about the quarterbacks because the maturity of the Flying Cardinals' John Derr and the Vikings' Carmen Fortino could shape the American Conference. Year two with a Derr under center brings big expectations and anything but a spot in the District One playoffs would be a disappointment. If the senior signal caller can eclipse his 800 plus yards and 12 touchdowns from a season ago, a playoff spot should not be much of a problem for Stover's squad

Offensive Standout: Sr. John Derr (QB)
Defensive Standout: Sr. Ryan Swinski (FS)
Breakout: Jr. Tamir Bailey (DT)

Head Coach: Harold Smith

Last year's record: 2-9 overall, 1-6 in Suburban One American Conference

Training Camp Question: The 1600 passing yards and 19 touchdowns are nice numbers for a junior quarterback, but Carmen Fortino will have to do better than his 19 interceptions in his senior year if the Vikings want to make a run at a conference crown. Fortino showed he can sling it when trailing, but if he can balance that with more good decisions, and playing with a lead, the Vikings could surprise a lot of people this season.

Offensive Standout: Sr. Carmen Fortino (QB)
Defensive Standout: Sr. Clay Greenway (LB)
Breakout: Sr. Jequan Mitchell (RB)

Check back tomorrow for Upper Moreland and Upper Perk

  1. According to the Charlotte Observer, recently published the results of tests for the overall rate of adoption of Common Core Ga ringer 19.4 percent. Only one in five students in an average basis. If I remember correctly, the pass frequency around 8 percent in math.
